Pete The Cat's Groovy Shirt
Project type
Art
Date
February 2026
Objectives
I wanted to facilitate an experience in which children are engaging their fine motor manipulation skills. And supporting them through the experience by instructing them how to use an eyedropper: "squeeze and let go" while using an eyedropper.
taking an opportunity to talk about colors:
- color naming and requesting
- discussing what will happen if two colors mix together
Reflection
Despite not using the materials I originally intended to use, acrylic or tempera, the children were engaged in the activity for an extended period of time. The children's fine motor ability improved as the continued to use the eye droppers.
Over the course of he semester, I made several observations of the children engaging in painting and art activities as well as gravitating towards the Pete The Cat stories. Before diving into the activity, I read Pete The Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons.
